Stop-start battery service in Dubai
Stop-start and many European cars are built around a specific battery type. We test the battery and charging system, fit the matching AGM or EFB battery where the car is parked, and register it where the car requires it.

An AGM (absorbent glass mat) battery holds its electrolyte in glass-fibre mats rather than as free liquid. It handles frequent deep discharge and recharge well, which suits cars that switch the engine off at every stop and recover energy when braking.
An EFB (enhanced flooded battery) is a strengthened version of the standard flooded battery. It copes with more start cycles than a standard battery and is commonly fitted to entry-level stop-start cars, while AGM is used where the electrical demand is higher.
| Type | Commonly fitted to | What it handles |
|---|---|---|
| Standard flooded | Cars without stop-start | Normal starting and charging |
| EFB | Many entry-level stop-start cars | More frequent restarts than a standard battery |
| AGM | Stop-start cars with regenerative braking and heavier electrical loads | Frequent restarts, deep cycling and high demand from onboard electronics |
The battery type depends on the exact model, engine and equipment, not only the make. As a general guide, AGM is commonly fitted to stop-start cars from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Range Rover and Porsche, especially those with regenerative braking. Many newer Japanese and Korean models with stop-start use EFB or AGM too.
The quickest way to know is to check the label on the battery that is already fitted, or send us the make, model, year and engine. We confirm the type before the technician sets off, so the right battery arrives on the first visit.
A stop-start car expects its battery to accept charge quickly and survive many restarts a day. Fitting a battery of a lower type, such as EFB or standard flooded in place of AGM, usually leads to a shorter battery life, stop-start switching off and battery warnings. We never downgrade an AGM car to EFB or standard.
Going the other way is generally fine. Fitting AGM in place of EFB is an upgrade that many cars accept, and we tell you if it makes sense for your model and budget. Size, terminal layout and capacity still have to match what the car was built for.
Replaced with AGM only. No downgrade to EFB or standard.
Replaced with EFB, or upgraded to AGM where it suits the car.
Replaced with a standard battery, or an upgrade if you prefer one.
Many cars with AGM or EFB batteries use a battery management system that tracks the battery's age and condition. When a new battery is fitted, the car may need to be told about it so it charges the new battery correctly. This is commonly needed on BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Range Rover and Porsche models.
Where your car requires it, the technician registers or codes the new battery at the car before leaving. Requirements vary by model, so confirm your model when you book and we tell you whether registration applies.
Our range includes Varta with AGM and EFB options, Mobis with AGM for stop-start cars, and Autopart with AGM available. The technician confirms the brand and exact battery that fits your car when you message.
Fitted batteries start from AED 249. AGM and EFB batteries cost more than standard ones, so the confirmed quote for your car states the battery, mobile visit, standard fitting, test, registration where required, old battery removal for recycling and the applicable warranty. Warranty is up to 24 months depending on brand, including 24 months on Varta and Mobis.
Send the make, model, year and where the car is parked, whether at your residential tower, office car park or the roadside in Dubai. The service runs 24/7, and we give the current arrival estimate when you message.

Check the label on the current battery, or send us the make, model, year and engine. Stop-start cars commonly use EFB or AGM, and we confirm the type before the visit.
We do not recommend it and do not fit it. A car built for AGM usually gives a shorter battery life and stop-start faults with a lower type.
Generally, yes. AGM in place of EFB is an upgrade many cars accept, as long as the size, terminals and capacity suit the car.
Many BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Range Rover and Porsche models need it, and some other stop-start cars do too. Confirm your model when you book and we register it at the car where required.
Varta offers AGM and EFB options, Mobis offers AGM for stop-start cars, and Autopart has AGM available. We confirm the exact battery for your car.
Fitted batteries start from AED 249, and AGM costs more than standard. Send the car details for a confirmed quote covering the battery, visit, fitting, test, registration where required and warranty.
